Frequently Asked Questions
Is Console Critics a paid publication?
Console Critics is currently an independent publication supported by volunteer contributors during its early stages. At this time, contributor positions are unpaid. As the publication grows, opportunities and contributor roles may evolve.
Who owns the articles I write?
You will always receive public credit for your published work through your author byline. By submitting an article for publication, you grant Console Critics permission to publish and display your work on the website and associated platforms. If you have questions regarding ownership or future use of your work, please contact the editor before submitting.
Can I include my published articles in my portfolio or résumé?
Absolutely. Every published article is intended to help contributors build a professional writing portfolio. You’re encouraged to include your published work on your résumé, LinkedIn profile, personal website, or other professional platforms.
Do I need previous writing experience?
No. We welcome contributors of all experience levels. Passion for gaming, a willingness to learn, and the ability to communicate clearly are more important than professional experience.
Can I pitch my own article ideas?
Yes. We encourage contributors to suggest original ideas that align with Console Critics’ mission and editorial standards. Original perspectives and unique topics are always welcome.
What types of games can I write about?
We welcome content covering a wide variety of gaming topics, including AAA titles, independent games, retro games, gaming culture, industry news, hardware, esports, and opinion pieces.
Will my article be edited?
Yes. Every submission goes through an editorial review. Minor edits for grammar, formatting, readability, and consistency are common. If substantial revisions are needed, we’ll work with you throughout the editing process.
How long does the review process take?
Review times vary depending on submission volume and article complexity. We strive to review submissions as efficiently as possible while maintaining quality standards.
Am I guaranteed to be published?
No. Every submission is reviewed individually. Acceptance depends on originality, quality, accuracy, and how well the article fits Console Critics’ editorial direction.
Can I contribute regularly?
Absolutely. Contributors are welcome to submit articles on an ongoing basis. Whether you publish occasionally or become a regular writer, we’re excited to support your growth as part of the Console Critics community.
Who can I contact if I have questions?
